Burglar Tried To Attack 7-Year-Old Girl, Cleveland Police Say
Police are asking the public for help as they try to determine who the suspect is.
CLEVELAND — Police are trying to identify a man who broke into a home and tried to assault a 7-year-old girl. Investigators think the man may have broken into a second home in Cleveland less than two weeks after attacking the girl.
On September 3, at 2 a.m., a man broke into a home on Caine Avenue by pushing an AC unit into a window. He then climbed through the window.
Once inside the house, the man tried to assault a 7-year-old girl inside the home. The girl screamed out and the man ran off.

Police said the man was wearing a black ski mask and black clothing, but he was an African American man with a mustache.
Less than two weeks later, on September 14, a man sneaked into a home on E. 142nd Street at 2:30 a.m. He crawled through a back window on the house's first floor. Investigators said he was wearing a black skim mask, black shorts, a black T-shirt and no shoes.

Police said the man took off his mask and was approximately 25 years old, 5 feet 5 inches tall, 155 pounds, and had short brown hair and hazel eyes. He was an African American man with a shaggy beard, police added.
While both incidents featured men wearing similar outfits, police said they have not determined if the suspect is the same person. Anyone with information regarding these incidents is asked to contact the Sex Crimes Unit at 216-623-5630.
