Car Catches Fire After Hitting Apartment Building In Cleveland
Police chased a stolen car from Garfield Heights into Cleveland before the vehicle went off-road, hitting a tree, then a building.

CLEVELAND — Police pulled a suspect out of a crashed car that caught fire on Wednesday night. The driver had been speeding away from police when he hit a tree on Broadview Road and then drove into the steps of an apartment building, police said.
The car chase actually started in Garfield Heights. A 2011 Buick LaCrosse, with one headlight, was noticed by officers. The vehicle had been entered as stolen by Cleveland Police. The suspect in the car theft had reportedly stolen the Buick at gunpoint.
Police signaled for the LaCrosse to pull over near Granger Road and Transportation Boulevard, in Garfield Heights, Fox 8 reported. The suspect ignored commands and sped off toward Cleveland, police said. Garfield Heights officers gave chase.

The crash ended when the Buick hit a tree on Broadview Road and then crashed into the steps of a nearby apartment building. Garfield Heights Police pulled the suspect out of the car because it had caught fire, Cleveland Police said.
The suspect, a 26-year-old, was taken to MetroHealth with a broken leg.
