Carjacking, Car Chase Gets Ohioan 10 Year Sentence
A 23-year-old was found guilty of aggravated robbery, grand theft auto, and carrying a concealed weapon.
A 23-year-old was sentenced to a decade in prison for a robbery that ended after a car chase and several car crashes, according to court documents.
“The defendants’ actions put the lives of numerous citizens and officers at great risk,” said Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley. “We are thankful for the work of the Euclid Police Department in helping bring these defendants to justice.”
Tysean Fuller, 23, was accused of taking part in a scheme to steal a man's car in May 2017. Court records said Fuller's partner, Alexander Sewell, 18, setup a meeting with a man trying to sell his car. Sewell asked to test drive the car before buying it and the seller agreed, on the condition that he ride with Sewell.

Sewell then texted Fuller where he was going, court records said. Sewell drove to E. 193rd Street and Abby Avenue in Cleveland and Fuller showed up, with a gun, and demanded the seller's car keys and phone, court records said. Sewell took off running.
The seller handed over his keys and phone and then ran to a nearby business and called the police. Fuller drove off in the car and picked up Sewell, court records said.

The stolen car, still being driven by Fuller and Sewell, was spotted in Euclid, court records showed. Police pursued the car and through Euclid into Bratenahl, East Cleveland and then Cleveland. During the chase, the stolen car hit multiple vehicles on the road.
The chase ended when Fuller crashed the car into a Euclid police cruiser, hurting an officer. Sewell was taken into custody on the scene and Fuller was taken into custody later because he escaped through a window in the stolen car, court records said.
Police found a gun in the passenger seat of the stolen car, according to court records.
On June 14, Fuller was found guilty by a jury of aggravated robbery, three counts of robbery, kidnapping, abduction, grand theft, receiving stolen property, telecommunications fraud, carrying a concealed weapon and improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
On January 4, 2019, Sewell was sentenced to three years and nine months in prison. He pleaded guilty to robbery, abduction, grand theft, failure to comply, felonious assault, vandalism, failure to stop after an accident and obstructing official business.
