Cavaliers Head Coach Ty Lue Fired After 0-6 Start

Cleveland is off to one of the worst starts ever for a team that was in the NBA Finals the year previous.

CLEVELAND — Cleveland Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue has been fired, ESPN reports. After losing LeBron James in the off-season, the team has started 0-6 and has been blown out by some of the worst teams in the NBA.

There have reportedly been conflicts between Lue and Cavs general manager Koby Altman. The two are allegedly sparring over playing time for veterans, with Lue wanting to give more minutes to proven starters; and Altman wanting to give space for young players to grow.

Lue's firing will clear space on the bench for Larry Drew, who will become the team's interim head coach. Drew was head coach of the Atlanta Hawks for four years, compiling a 143-169 record, according to Basketball-Reference.

Lue will be remembered has one of the most successful coaches in Cleveland Cavaliers history. He guided the team to the 2016 NBA Championship, Cleveland's sole major sports title since the 1960s. He also was the head coach for three straight trips to the NBA Finals. The team was 128-83 during his tenure.

Patch wondered if the Cavaliers were in trouble when the team started 0-4. With Lue's departure, the franchise's problem may be even worse than originally thought.
