Here are the top stories in Cleveland today:

  1. New video footage released by the city of Cleveland shows officers being shot at while trying to chase down 25-year-old Shetrell Leroy Harris. Officers are seen trying to stop and talk to Harris, who keeps walking on West 117th Street, then running as more officers arrive. Weaving through traffic on Berea Road, police reports state the accused fired one shot over his shoulder in the direction of officers. Seconds after the shot was heard, Harris was tackled to the ground as he tikdpolice, "I'm a kid, I'm a kid." (Cleveland 19 News)
  2. A six-year-old student at Fairfax Elementary in Cleveland Heights brought a pocketknife in his backpack on Wednesday morning. The student reportedly showed the knife to other children on his bus, who then informed the bus driver. The knife was confiscated, and the student was turned over to his mother; no one was hurt. (News 5 Cleveland)
  3. The Special Spaces Cleveland holiday tea lunch raised more than $13,000 to help children battling cancer. (WKYC.com)
  4. Two people were driven to the East 152nd Street fire station to get help after being shot on Tuesday night; both victims were then taken to University Hospitals, where one was later declared dead. (Cleveland Patch)
