Cleveland Browns Add New Punchline to Season of Futility, #GPODAWUND Trends After Botched Banner Mishap

Fans attempted to unfurl a banner at the Browns-New York Jets game that read Go Dawg Pound. Instead, they created #GPODAWUND.

CLEVELAND, OH - Every time you think the Browns have hit the bedrock of humiliating lows, the team finds a new, more embarrassing way to dig itself even deeper. This weekend, during the team's home game against the hapless New York Jets, fans planned to unfurl a section wide banner that read "Go Dawg Pound." Except, wires got crossed and this happened.

Since Cleveland sports have mostly emerged from the dark ages, it's almost good to have the Browns still doing Browns things. While the Tribe and Cavaliers have reached the pinnacle of their respective leagues, the Browns keep Clevelanders grounded...maybe too grounded. The team is 0-8 on the year and just lost a game that many pundits said would be their best shot at winning a contest this year. Now the team is cruising towards 0-16 and has a brand new rallying cry...#GPODAWUND.

The black comedy of the moment has not been lost on Browns fans who, mostly, are used to the myriad ways the team finds to degrade itself and humiliate its home city. Still, the #GPODAWUND hashtag is trending on Twitter and that means the nation has picked up on the team's continued incompetence and once again made a punchline of Cleveland.
