Cleveland Browns New QB: Do You Approve of Tyrod Taylor Trade?

The Brownies appears to have a new man under center. But do you like the trade to get the former Buffalo Bills player?

CLEVELAND, OH — Sports teams in Cleveland have been frantic recently, with the Cavaliers making a wholesale roster swap at the trade deadline while the Browns have remade their offense with a new wide receiver and, most importantly, a new quarterback. Tyrod Taylor, acquired from the Buffalo Bills, appears set to be the next man under center for Cleveland.

After going 1-31 over the past two seasons, it's clear that new Browns General Manager John Dorsey is looking to reshape this team. With Taylor, a proven starter and winner, the team will improve. It's just unclear how much the team will improve.

Here's the bigger question. Do you approve of the trade for Taylor?

Taylor is a versatile quarterback who has been the starter for the Bills since the 2015 season. He doesn't turn the ball over much and has racked up a 22-20 record in three seasons as a starter. His touchdown to interception ratio for his career is 51-18, according to Pro Football Reference.

Taylor fits the mold of quarterbacks Dorsey favors. During his stint with the Kansas City Chiefs, he sought out and acquired Alex Smith from the San Francisco 49ers, another player who won games and didn't turn the ball over much. Neither Taylor or Smith rank among the league's elite quarterbacks, but both will keep their teams in ball games.

Taylor and Smith have also both won football games with less talented teams, particularly Taylor. His Buffalo teams were not well renowned for their talent, yet his career record is still 22-20. That bodes well for a Cleveland team that is clearly on the rebuild (and has been for more than two decades, roughly).

But would you rather see the team turn the reins over to a rookie quarterback right now? Tell us in the comments.
