CLEVELAND — Kevin Stefanski will likely be the next head coach of the Cleveland Browns, according to ESPN and NFL.com. Stefanski,37, is currently the offensive coordinator of the Minnesota Vikings.

Stefanski was one of the finalists for last year's vacant head coaching position. He interviewed twice with the franchise before Freddie Kitchens was awarded the job. Stefanski was the only candidate to be interviewed last year and this year, the Browns said.

Spending most of his career with the Vikings, Stefanski has been in the NFL for 14 years. He worked under three head coaches in Minnesota and was the longest tenured coach on the Vikings' staff.

In 2018, Stefanski was promoted from quarterbacks coach to offensive coordinator. During his first year guiding Minnesota's offense, the Vikings were eighth in the NFL in scoring offense and sixth in rushing offense.

Freddie Kitchens, Stefanski's predecessor, was fired on Dec. 29, 2019. He led the Browns to a disappointing 6-10 season, during which star quarterback Baker Mayfield seemed to regress. General Manager John Dorsey was then fired on Dec. 31, 2019.
