Cleveland Browns Trade QB For Draft Pick
The team is giving up on a former third-round draft pick...all for the price of a seventh round pick.

CLEVELAND, OH — Cleveland Browns Quarterback Cody Kessler has been traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars for a conditional seventh round pick. The team has already had a busy off-season at quarterback, acquiring projected new starter Tyrod Taylor from the Buffalo Bills.
Kessler started eight games for the Browns as a rookie in 2016. Despite going 0-8 as a starter, Kessler looked passable as a backup quarterback. He posted a 65.6 percent completion rate during his 2016 campaign, while throwing 195 passes and racking up 1,380 yards. He had a six touch to two interception ratio.
The third-round pick from USC only made three appearances last year, during the Browns infamous (read: ignominious) 0-16 season. He only attempted 23 passes, completing 11 throws during the entire 2017 campaign.

The Browns swapped a third round pick, number 65, for Taylor. He's a versatile quarterback who had been the starter for the Bills since the 2015 season. He doesn't turn the ball over much and has racked up a 22-20 record in three seasons as a starter. His touchdown to interception ratio for his career is 51-18, according to Pro Football Reference.
The Browns also traded DeShone Kizer earlier this off-season, shipping the Notre Dame product to Green Bay in exchange for free safety Damarious Randall. That trade happened two-weeks ago.
