Cleveland Indians Home Opener 2018: Everything You Need To Know
Where not to park, who's pitching, how to score free cookies and more.

CLEVELAND, OH — At long last, the Cleveland Indians will return to the shores of Lake Erie for their home opener. The Tribe will square off with division rival the Kansas City Royals. Neither team has had a good start to the season and both will be looking to right the ship.
The Indians are currently 2-4, despite high expectations for the year. The Royals, who at least appear to be in a rebuild, are 1-3 on the season. The Indians will want to help them along the rebuild path by delivering a few more losses to their record.

The city of Cleveland has released a statement on which streets will be closed for parking due to the Home Opener. Restrictions will go into effect on noon on Friday. Those parked illegally on the following streets will be towed, the city said.
- East 4th Street from Prospect Avenue to Huron Road, both sides
- West Huron Road from Ontario Street to West Superior Avenue
- East 9th Street from Carnegie Avenue to Superior Avenue, both sides
- Prospect Avenue from East 14th Street to Ontario Street, both sides
- Huron Road between Ontario Street and Prospect Avenue, both sides
- Carnegie Avenue from East 14th Street to East 9th Street, both sides
- The Warehouse District Parking Ban will be in effect from 8 p.m. – 4 a.m.
The city also said that anyone coming downtown for the game should expect congested traffic, more pedestrians than usual and a generally slow experience maneuvering through the city.
On the bright side, Indians fans that want to score a free cookie on Friday will have ample opportunity. Eat 'n Park is offering a free Smiley Cookie to anyone that stops in wearing Indians gear (that's anything from a jersey to a pin to a hat). That offer is good all day on Friday.
