Cleveland Man Sentenced To Life For Killing Of Pizza Delivery Man
Tyrone Leegrand, 26, was sentenced to life in prison for the killing of pizza delivery man Michael Prock.
CLEVELAND — Tyron Leegrand has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Michael Prock.
“Michael Prock was a hardworking man who was simply trying to earn a living,” said Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley. “The persistent investigatory efforts of the Cleveland Police Homicide Unit helped bring justice for the victim’s family.”
In June 2015, Leegrand called a pizza shop and placed an order to be delivered to a home near Bridge Avenue and W. 59th Street. The pizza shop's delivery driver, Prock, 41, arrived near the home and parked his car on the street.

Leegrand then approached Prock and pulled out a handgun. Prock tried to drive away in his car, but Leegrand fired multiple shots into Prock's car, prosecutors said.
Prock was shot, lost consciousness and his car drifted off the road and hit a tree. Leegrand ran off and took a bus to Akron, prosecutors said.

Neighbors on Bridge and W. 59th called police after hearing the crash. Cleveland police and EMS rushed to the scene and spotted the car, with the back windshield and rear passenger side windows shattered. Prock was unresponsive in the disabled car. He had a gunshot wound in his upper back. Medics declared him dead on the scene.
Several law enforcement departments and agencies collaborated on the investigation. They identified Leegrand as the primary suspect using shell casings and a phone recovered at the scene. Outgoing calls on the recovered phone were made to associates of Leegrand, prosecutors said.
Investigators later found a gun in an Akron apartment and linked the weapon to Leegrand and the shell casings found on the scene.
Prosecutors said Leegrand told his girlfriend he killed Prock and showed her the gun he used. He made the same confession to another female friend, O'Malley's office said. Then, in 2016, Leegrand was sentenced for robbing a woman in Cleveland. While in jail, prosecutors said, he began discussing the killing while on calls with relatives.
During a 10 day trial, prosecutors called 23 witnesses to the stand. The jury then found Leegrand guilty of murder, felonious assault, carrying a concealed weapon, having weapons under disability and tampering with evidence. He was sentenced to life in prison, with parole eligibility after 18 years.
