Cleveland Museum of Natural History Holds Groundhog Fun Day

From The Cleveland Museum of Natural History: The Cleveland Museum of Natural History’s annual Groundhog Fun Day will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2017. The excitement is from 10am-5pm. This festival features live animal demonstrations at 1pm and 3pm, and family friendly crafts relating to the natural and unnatural history of springtime's legendary rodent.

Join Cleveland Museum of History staff to determine if Cleveland will enjoy an early spring. Separate fact from folklore with an appearance by Thistle the Whistlepig, the Museum's resident groundhog. Tunnel and dig like a groundhog, check out a hibernator table of fame, make a groundhog puppet in Smead Discovery Center and more. Rouse yourself from wintertime lethargy and join in the fun!

“Groundhogs are fascinating animals,” said Harvey Webster, Director of Wildlife Resources. “They are herbivores, eating mostly fruits and vegetables, and as a member of the squirrel family, they love to climb, dig and burrow. Groundhog Fun Day will explore many fun facts and in-depth learning about the groundhog.”

Groundhog Fun Day is free with Museum admission thanks to sponsorship from Bank of America. Admission fees are: $15 adults 19 and over; $10 ages 3-18, college students with valid ID and seniors over age 60; free for children 2 and under. Shafran Planetarium shows are an additional $5 per person with Museum admission.
