Cleveland Needs Crossing Guards

The gig pays a little more than $20 a day, the city said. Most crossing guards work two hours per school day.

CLEVELAND, OH — The city is looking to hire crossing guards for the rapidly approaching school year. Applicants can contact the police department to inquire about a position, or get a recommendation from their city councilperson.

“Crossing guards serve an important function in our community by keeping its most valued asset safe – our children,” said Mayor Frank G. Jackson in a statement. “Adults looking to give back to the community or who enjoy working with children are encouraged to apply.”

Cleveland crossing guards help kids get across streets on their way to and from school. The crossing guards will be responsible for helping students going to public, parochial or charter schools for an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon.
