Here are the top three stories today in Cleveland:

  1. Cleveland police are investigating an attempted murder-suicide that occurred on Saturday night, Jan. 7, at 6405 Gertrude Avenue. Officers found a 21-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the neck and chin, 28-year-old Jesse Kesmen who died at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot to the head, and a dog with a gunshot wound. As of Jan. 8, the woman was in critical condition and the dog's condition was not released. (Cleveland 19 News)
  2. Cleveland police are asking for the public's help in locating Nikita Henderson, a 27-year-old woman who was last spoken to on Jan. 3 and last seen at her home in the 1700 block of West 25th Street. Henderson is 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighs around 120 pounds, has brown eyes, and has black hair, but might be wearing a burgundy wig. Please call (216) 621-1234 with any relevant information.   3. Cleveland Municipal Judge Pinkey Carr resigned on Dec. 9 after being suspended indefinitely from practicing law and immediately removed from office by Ohio's Supreme Court on Oct. 18. Carr is still facing multiple allegations, including holding hearings when the court was closed in March 2020 and creating what the Supreme Court described as "a modern-day debtors prison."
