Cleveland Police Officer Hurt When Car Speeds Away
Officers were checking on a car parked in the street when the driver woke up and drove away.
CLEVELAND — At 4 a.m. Friday, an intoxicated driver hit two police vehicles and then drove off. One officer sustained minor injuries during the incident. Police have not yet found the suspect or their car.
According to police, at approximately 4 a.m., officers saw a Nissan Maxima stopped in the westbound lane of Payne Avenue, at E. 13th Street. The driver appeared to be unconscious.
Officers walked toward the car and saw what seemed to be vomit streaked on the driver's side door. The officers tried to rouse the driver, but when he woke he put his car in drive and hit two police cruisers, before driving east on Chester.

The Maxima has not yet been found, a Cleveland police spokesperson said.
One of the officers who was investigating the car was hurt when his head hit the Maxima's window as it sped away. He was treated at MetroHealth Medical Center and then released.

Police said the suspect's car is a black Nissan Maxima with the license plate "HYY9991."
