CLEVELAND — Although 2020 is coming to an end, the coronavirus pandemic will carry into the new year, which brought a new idea for the Cleveland Public Library to extend services to many of its users.

The library announced this week that beginning Friday, it will introduce a Words on Wheels program, which allows those who use the library to have materials deliver to their homes. The service is free and will allow residents of Cleveland, Bratenahl, Newburgh Heights and Linndale to have books and movies delivered to their homes.

Here’s how it works.

  • Users will need to sign up for a library card if they don’t already have one.
  • Users then call their neighborhood library branch or the main library to request materials.
  • Materials will then be shipped to the user’s house.
  • When users are finished with the materials, they may return them to any Cleveland Public Library book drop or any CLEVNET member library.

Cleveland Public Library will still continue to provide its Homebound Service for those who cannot return materials on their own because of a disability or their age.

For more information, local residents may visit Words on Wheels and Homebound Service. The Cleveland Public Library is open for drive-thru or walk-up services from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday and the drive-up window at the library is open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturdays
