Cleveland Roundtable on Lake Erie: "Proposed EPA Budget Cuts: What Could It Mean for Ohio?"

Experts Analyze New Trump Budget Proposal to Drastically Cut Lake Erie Restoration and the Environmental Protection Agency

Proposed EPA Budget Cuts: What Could It Mean for Ohio?

Impacts to health, the Great Lakes, and the economy

[Cleveland, OH] — The current federal budget proposes drastic cuts to the US Environmental Protection Agency, reducing the funding by more than 31 percent. Critical programs such as the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative that received $300 million in funding during the last budget cycle could be eliminated completely.

These programs successfully address problems that directly impact public health and safety including beach closings, restrictions on fish and wildlife consumption, dredging, and monitoring problems with drinking water. These are not issues that can be taken lightly. Without proper oversight, people will get sick and wildlife will suffer needlessly.

Join us for a press briefing and roundtable about the importance of EPA programs to Northeast Ohio and the Great Lakes Region, and the impacts that could result if funding is slashed.

The forum will conclude with an audience question and answer session with all panelists.
