Cleveland Water Lifts Precautionary Boil Water Advisory
The agency says tests came back clearing the water at 7 a.m. this morning.

SOLON, OH - Cleveland Water has lifted an advisory that asked residents of several east side suburbs to boil water before use. The organization says tests came back at 7 a.m. this morning that indicated the water was bacteria-free and could be used by the public.
“The safety of our customers is our number one priority,” said Alex Margevicius, commissioner of water, in a statement. “While we were confident the water was safe, we put the advisory in place out of an abundance of caution while we conducted the appropriate bacteria tests to confirm this belief.”
Cleveland Water said the advisory was in place because of a malfunction at a Green Road storage tank that caused a valve to open before the organization could complete necessary bacteria tests. Unable to verify that the water was bacteria free, the organization issued the advisory to 10 cities, including: Moreland Hills, Woodmere, Orange, Highland Hills, Warrensville Heights, North Randall, Beachwood, Bedford Heights, Solon, and Bentleyville.

“All restrictions and requirements to boil the water have been lifted,” said Margevicius in the statement. “We’d like to thank all of our customers for the patience as we worked to verify the safety of their water.”
The organization said that no businesses were closed due to the advisory, but Beachwood Schools said that their food provider would use bottled water to cook food today.
