Here are the top three stories today in Cleveland:
- A new indictment unsealed by the Department of Justice has accused three men of smuggling 1,100 pounds of cocaine into Cleveland. Christopher Ficklin, Robert Atkinson, and David Gomez-Orrantia allegedly shipped cocaine from Mexico to a Cleveland warehouse on Carnegie Avenue. The cocaine was then sold throughout Northern Ohio and $13 million was shipped back to Mexico. (Cleveland Patch)
- A ramp connecting I-77 north to I-480 will be closed on Thursday into Friday, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation. The closure will be for bridgework. Travelers will be detoured. The closure is part of the bigger bridge rehabilitation project on SR 21 which will be completed mid-2023. (Patch)
- Deandra Chisolm, the man who murdered his girlfriend, has been given a life sentence in prison. A Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court judge imposed the sentence after Chisolm was convicted of murdering Darnesha Johnson and dumping her body on Interstate 77. Johnson's family was in the courtroom when Chisolm was sentenced. (cleveland.com)
