Coronavirus: How Full Are Cuyahoga County Hospitals?

There is now public data showing how close your local hospital is to being at or over capacity.

CLEVELAND β€” Several hospitals in Cuyahoga County are almost at capacity due to the ongoing surge in coronavirus cases in Ohio and around the country. Some hospitals have started postponing nonessential surgeries.

Residents can now look up exactly how full their local hospital is. Based on research and data compiled by the University of Minnesota, National Public Radio created a "look-up" tool.
Users can also lookup county and statewide hospitalization rates, in addition to info on their local hospital:

  • In Cuyahoga County, hospitals are 66 percent full
  • In Lorain County, hospitals are 76 percent full
  • In Summit County, hospitals are 73 percent full

Below are local hospital capacity rates and their number of daily COVID-19 patients based on a seven-day average:

  • Cleveland Clinic (Cleveland) β€” 78 percent full, treating an average of 109 COVID-19 patients
  • Euclid Hospital β€” 50 percent full, treating an average of 29 COVID-19 patients
  • Fairview Hospital β€” 85 percent full, treating an average of 99 COVID-19 patients
  • Hillcrest Hospital (Mayfield) β€” 93 percent full, treating an average of 108 COVID-19 patients
  • Marymount Hospital (Garfield Heights) β€” 67 percent full, treating an average of 65 COVID-19 patients
  • Metrohealth System β€” 54 percent full, treating an average of 56 COVID-19 patients
  • Parma Community General Hospital β€” 61 percent full, treating an average of 44 COVID-19 patients
  • South Pointe Hospital (Warrensville Heights) β€” 79 percent full, treating an average of 41 COVID-19 patients
  • Southwest General Health Center (Middleburg Heights) β€” 87 percent full, treating an average of 67 COVID-19 patients
  • St. Vincent Charity Medical Center (Cleveland) β€” 60 percent full, treating an average of eight COVID-19 patients
  • University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center β€” 70 percent full, treating an average of 126 COVID-19 patients
  • UH St. John Medical Center (Westlake) β€” 72 percent full, treating an average of 25 COVID-19 patients
  • Richmond Heights Hospital β€”56 percent full, treating an average of 13 COVID-19 patients
  • UH Ahuja Medical Center β€” 82 percent full, treating an average of 35 COVID-19 patients

Incomplete data for the following hospitals on Cuyahoga County: Cleveland Clinic Children's Hospital for Rehab, Lake Health Beachwood Medical Center, Lutheran Hospital, Rainbow Babies and Childrens Hospital, Regency Hospital of Cleveland East, and Select Speciality Hospital - Cleveland Fairhill.
