Coronavirus In Ohio: 1,525 New Cases, 24 Deaths
More than 100 Ohioans were hospitalized with COVID-19 over the past 24 hours.
COLUMBUS, OH — More than 1,500 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Ohio over the past 24 hours, the state health department announced.
As Ohio's surge of new COVID-19 cases continues, at least 1,525 people were confirmed as having contracted the virus on Friday. Over the past three weeks, Ohio has averaged more than 900 new COVID-19 cases per day.
More than 100 Ohioans were also hospitalized with COVID-19 over the past 24 hours. The state has averaged 73 COVID-19-related hospitalizations per day over the past three weeks. On Friday, 111 people were hospitalized due to the virus.

Deaths related to COVID-19 on Friday were also up versus Ohio's three-week average. At least 24 people died due to complications caused by the virus over the past 24 hours. Over the past three weeks, Ohio has averaged 17 COVID-19-related deaths per day.

Twelve Ohio counties are classified as "red," meaning there is a very high rate of COVID-19 spread locally. Mask mandates are being implemented in all 12 "red" counties.
