COLUMBUS, OH — The uptick in new COVID-19 cases continued Monday, with more than 1,900 new cases confirmed among Ohioans.

The state health department reported that 1,934 Ohioans tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday. That's up slightly versus the state's three-week average of 1,914 cases per day. Ohio has seen increase in daily COVID-19 cases since mid-March.

Hospitalizations related to the virus were down slightly versus their average on Monday, with 89 people being admitted for COVID-19 care. Gov. Mike DeWine said Ohio's in a race to vaccinate residents before COVID-19 variants spread rapidly through the state.

At least 983,750 Ohioans have contracted COVID-19 and recovered, the Ohio Department of Health said.

More than 35 percent of Ohioans have received at least the first part of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to the state health department. More than 22.5 percent of Ohioans have received both COVID-19 vaccine shots.

As of Monday afternoon, 4.12 million Ohioans had received at least the first shot of the two-part COVID-19 vaccine; and 2.64 million Ohioans have completed the vaccination process.
