Coronavirus In Ohio: New Cases, Deaths Up On Thursday
State leaders have said they're hoping the daily influx of new coronavirus cases will plateau or begin to slow before May 1.
COLUMBUS, OH — There were nearly 600 cases of the new coronavirus confirmed between Wednesday and Thursday afternoon, according to the Ohio Department of Health. At least 46 Ohioans died due to complications caused by the virus during that same time span.
The number of new COVID-19 cases per day was up over the past 24 hours, versus earlier this week. State leaders have said they're hoping the numbers plateau or begin to decline prior to May 1, when some businesses will begin to reopen.
There are now 14,694 confirmed cases of COVID-19 statewide. Officials said at least 656 deaths have been caused by the virus.

Marion County, home to Marion Correctional Institute, now leads the state in confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 2,161 cases. Of those, 2,011 are inmates at the prison, based on Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections data.
