Cosmic Dave's Rock Club Opens In Former Barking Spider Space
Live music will again roar out of the space once-occupied by the popular music club.
CLEVELAND — In its long journey to 2019, the building that now houses Cosmic Dave's Rock Club has taken many forms. It started life as a carriage house in the early 1900s, situated in the heart of Case Western Reserve University's campus.
For three decades, until 2016, the brick building was home to the Barking Spider Tavern — a music venue known for its eclectic collection of music talent. Artists from the folk, blues, bluegrass, jazz, and rock genres were all booked to play there.
Now, the building is Cosmic Dave's Rock Club. A music venue that is part of the Dave's Cosmic Subs line of shops.

The 2,500 square foot structure has been renovated by North Coast Cosmic Subs, a franchisee of Dave's Cosmic. The building is owned by Case Western Reserve University and has been leased out to the club.
“We’re very pleased that the new Cosmic Dave’s Rock Club is now open on Nash Walkway,” said Richard Jamieson, the university’s vice president for Campus Services. “I trust that our students, faculty, staff and visitors will enjoy this unique combination of a popular local food concept and a lively music venue located within a historic campus setting.”

The venue will offer a combination of live music, cocktails, and food. “It’s going to be quality- and experienced-driven,” said Paul Sidhu, president of North Coast Cosmic Subs, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sidhu Realty Capital, a multifaceted real-estate investment firm in Cleveland.
The club will host live music on Fridays and Saturdays, with open-mic nights for students. On Friday, April 5 Master TC and the Visitors will hit the club. The Props will play on Saturday. Both shows start at 9 p.m. and will have a cover charge.
“You had the Barking Spider, which everyone in the local community adored,” Sidhu said, “and we want to pick up where they left off. This location really pays homage to fulfilling part of that legacy.”
Cosmic Dave's Rock Club is located at 11310 Juniper Road, between the Coffee House and L'Albatros.
