COVID-19 In Cuyahoga County: 1,619 Cases, 37 Deaths In September

New data reveals that 81 Cuyahoga County residents were hospitalized because of COVID-19.

CLEVELAND, OH — Eighty-one Cuyahoga County residents were hospitalized with COVID-19 in September, the Ohio Department of Health announced this week.

Gov. Mike DeWine announced the release of new data on COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations and deaths from each of Ohio's 88 counties. Cuyahoga County has a middle-of-the-road transmission rate among Ohio counties (131.1 cases per 100,000 residents).

In September, there were 1,619 confirmed COVID-19 cases among Lorain County residents. Eighty-one of those residents were hospitalized because of the virus. Thirty-seven Cuyahoga County residents died from complications caused by COVID-19.

While Cuyahoga County is on the lower end of the COVID-19 transmission spectrum, DeWine urged Ohioans to continue take the virus seriously.

"We have 11 red counties, which is more than we’ve seen at any point in September. Although many Ohioans are working hard to keep this virus in check, unfortunately, we are seeing a rebound in some areas of the state," DeWine said Thursday during a news conference.
