Crews Search For Car That May Have Driven Into Cuyahoga River
Witnesses told authorities they saw a vehicle sinking into the river, near the Flats, on early Monday morning.

CLEVELAND — Authorities are searching the Cuyahoga River after witnesses said they saw a car drive into the waters on Monday morning.
Rescue crews have been searching the Cuyahoga River near the Flats in downtown Cleveland. The search began just after 3 a.m. and was called off at 4 a.m., Fox 8 reported. The search was expected to resume when the sun rose.
The vehicle was reportedly seen driving down Elm Avenue when it crossed Riverbed Street, over a grassy patch, and plunged into the river near the Center Street Bridge.

"I yelled and I tried to get somebody's attention, but I couldn't see nobody in the car," a witness told Fox 8 said. "I don't think anybody was in the car."

The U.S. Coast Guard and Cleveland Fire Crews are searching the river for signs of the vehicle and anyone that may have been in the car. So far, no sign of the vehicle or its driver have been located.
