Deli Worker Shot, Killed In Cleveland During Robbery: Police

Police said a 33-year-old man was shot in the head during an attempted robbery at In and Out Beverage Deli on Tuesday night.

CLEVELAND — A 33-year-old man was shot in the head at the In and Out Beverage Deli on Tuesday night. Despite being rushed to the hospital, the man died from his injuries, Cleveland Police said.

Police were called to the Lakeview Road business at approximately 8:40 p.m. They found the man in the store, with a gunshot wound in his head. EMS rushed the man to University Hospitals, but he was later pronounced deceased.

Investigators determined that three people, including the killed man, were working in the store when two people burst into In and Out with guns. They tried to rob the store, but the 33-year-old had his own gun and fired back at the suspects, police said.

During the exchange of gunfire, the 33-year-old was shot in the head.

One of the suspects, an 18-year-old, was shot in the neck. He was located later and arrested by police. He is in confined treatment at University Hospitals.

The second suspect in the robbery has not been located, police said.

Both the Cleveland Homicide Unit and the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office went to the scene to investigate. The shooting and robbery is an open case, police said.
