Detroit-Superior Bridge Work Delayed
The Ohio Department of Transportation said deck repairs for the bridge would be postponed until further notice.
CLEVELAND — Bridge deck repairs on the Detroit-Superior bridge in downtown Cleveland will be postponed until further notice, the Ohio Department of Transportation announced on Monday. Construction on the bridge was scheduled to begin on Tuesday night.
In an email sent on Monday afternoon, ODOT said crews are revising the maintenance of traffic plans to ensure a safe and efficient work zone throughout the construction. Work on the bridge is slated to continue in 2020.
When work does begin on the bridge, crews will do maintenance on the driving surface and miscellaneous repairs on and below the bridge. The bridge will be reduced to one lane in each direction during that phase of construction, ODOT said.

Additional work on the Detroit-Superior Bridge will take place in 2020, ODOT said. Most of that works will be below the bridge and should have minimal impact on traffic.
Great Lakes Construction Company is handling the work on the bridge and is being paid $9,870,989 for it, ODOT said. The project is expected to be completed in September 2020.
