Dirt Bikes, ATVs Flood Cleveland Streets, At Least 3 Hurt
Police said a group of ATVs and dirt bikes illegally took to city streets on Sunday. Two people were attacked by the riders.
CLEVELAND — ATVs and dirt bikes again rampaged through Cleveland on Sunday. At least three people were hurt during the incident and police received 44 complaints about the riders, a Cleveland police spokesperson said.
During the fracas, a man on a Yamaha dirt bike was hit by a pickup truck. The dirt bike rider's friends followed the truck and attacked the driver, Cleveland police said.
About 5:40 p.m., a 30-year-old man on a Yamaha dirt bike was cruising down Euclid Avenue with a group of other dirt bike and ATV riders. As the 30-year-old approached Burgess Road, he was hit by a Ford F-150. The truck dragged both the dirt bike and its rider several hundred feet, police said.

The other men riding dirt bikes and ATVs followed the pickup truck and attacked its driver, a 72-year-old man.
Both the dirt bike rider and pickup truck driver were taken to University Hospitals by EMS, police said. No arrests have been made.

In a separate incident on Sunday, a Bureau of Traffic Supervisor caught one of the ATV riders and tried to arrest him. Before they could take the person into custody, the supervisor was attacked. The suspect was wearing a mask, police said.
Cleveland police are asking the public to report any illegal activity they see related to ATVs or dirt bikes. Anonymous information can be given to police through Crimestoppers.
In August 2018, hundreds of ATVs and dirt bikes blazed through Cleveland and into the suburbs while illegally driving on public roads. Intersections in Lakewood had to be blocked to protect cars from the reckless pack of vehicles, police said. The pursuit of the riders involved multiple police departments and the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
