Domestic Incidents, Fatal Overdoses: Cleveland Police Log

Officers from the Cleveland Police Department are investigating a number of incidents that were reported beginning on Christmas Eve.

CLEVELAND — Officers from the Cleveland Police Department responded to a variety of calls since Christmas Eve including reports involving domestic disturbances, fatal overdoses and other incidents, the department reported on Monday. All those arrested by police are believed to be innocent until they are proven guilty.

December 24 and December 25

6:28 a.m. - Officers arrived at a home in the 3100 block of West 98th Street where they found a 34-year-old man who had been stabbed in the chest. The man was taken to a local hospital.

7:04 a.m. – Police investigated the death of a male victim who was found in the 5000 block of North Marginal Road near E. 55th Marina. Metro Parks rangers are handling the investigation.

8:03 a.m. – Police investigated was suspected to be a fatal overdose at a bus stop in the 5300 block of Superior Ave. where a male was found deceased.

8:30 p.m. – Officers arrived at Hopkins Airport for an assault on a police officer after a male spit at a police officer.

1:13 a.m. – A 25-year-old man was taken into custody in the 3600 block of Sackett Avenue where police said an intoxicated male attacked a family member. After police arrived at the location, the man began firing a rifle from inside the home multiple times. Police said that shots hit a nearby house where children were sleeping. No one was injured. The suspect was tased and taken into custody.

December 25 and December 26

10:36 p.m. – Police arrived at a home in the 2900 block of Walton Avenue where a 40-year-old man was involved in a domestic incident, set his wife’s car on fire and tried to break into the house, police said. The suspect fought with and spit on an officer and was taken into custody.

2:26 a.m. – A 30-year-old sustained a gunshot wound to the left calf during a shooting that took place at West 44th Street and Stoner Avenue, police said. The victim walked to the hospital.

2:57 a.m. – A 15-year-old male sustained a gunshot wound to the left leg during an incident on Glencoe Ave. The victim was taken to the hospital.

3:32 a.m. – Police were called to the 4900 block of Burger Avenue where a 32-year-old intoxicated male was involved in a domestic incident in which he shot a gun in the house. A 12-year-old girl ran from the house, police said. A 4-year-old boy remained inside the house with the suspect before the boy and a female victim were able to escape from the house. A SWAT unit was called and the suspect was taken into custody.

3:46 a.m. – Police arrived after a stabling was reported at East 143rd Street and St. Clair Avenue where a 35-year-old victim was found with stab wounds. A female was detained, police said. A 30-year-old woman was found to have stab wounds to the right hand.

6:55 a.m. – Police responded to the report of a fatal overdose on the 3600 block of E. 57th Street where a 25-year-old male was found.

8:43 p.m. – Police responded to the 11100 block of Euclid Avenue where a 17-year-old male was found with a gunshot wound to the back. The victim said the incident told police the incident took place at East 88 and Wade Oval.

Dec. 27 and Dec. 28

7:53 p.m. – Police responded to the report of a shooting in the 1400 block of Crestline Avenue where a 45-year-old male was found with a gunshot wound to the lower abdomen.

9:16 p.m. – Police investigated a crash at the 10000 block of Miles Avenue where a vehicle had flipped over.

2:58 a.m. – Police were called to the 3000 block of Bradwell Avenue where a 50-year-old woman told police she had been shot in the ear by her boyfriend who was intoxicated, police said. A 39-year-old man was taken into custody.

5:37 a.m. – A 13-year-old girl who had been reported kidnapped was located on Washington Avenue. Police are investigating the circumstances of the incident but police said that at this time, it does not appear a kidnapping took place.
