Off-Duty Cleveland Police Officer Involved In Shooting
The officer tried to intervene in a fight when a man shot another person. The officer then fired at the shooter.
CLEVELAND — An off-duty Cleveland police officer was involved in a shooting on Friday evening, the department announced.
Investigators believe a 44-year-old man got into an argument with a 22-year-old on W. 38th and Newark on Friday evening. An off-duty police officer attempted to intervene, but the 22-year-old shot the 44-year-old in the foot.
The off-duty officer then fired a shot at the 22-year-old, but did not hit him. The 22-year-old ran off, but was taken into custody shortly after the incident, police said.

Members of the Cleveland police Use of Deadly Force investigation team are taking part in the investigation. The 44-year-old was taken to a hospital for his injury and has since been treated and released.
The incident is still under investigation.
