CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is adding one additional weekend to the Asian Lantern Festival, keeping the record-breaking event running through August 18. Tickets for the final four dates went on sale Tuesday morning.

“The community’s response to this year’s Asian Lantern Festival has been tremendous with approximately 145,000 guests so far,” said Kelly Manderfield, Cleveland Metroparks chief marketing officer. “With several sold-out dates over the last two weekends, we wanted to add one final weekend to give everyone a chance to attend this year’s event.”

The new dates begin Thursday, August 15 and continue through Sunday, August 18. Tickets are $18.50 for non-Zoo members and $15.50 for members. A four-pack of tickets can be purchased for $50.

The Zoo recommends purchasing tickets in advance because tickets are limited. A small number of same-day tickets will be sold at the box office for $20.50 each or $60 for a four-pack. Children 2 and under are free.

The 2019 Asian Lantern Festival expanded on last year's event, adding live performances to the Firth Third Bank Stage, new lantern displays and more culturally-inspired cuisine options. Must-see attractions include a walk-through 100-foot-long shark tunnel, interactive zones and an expansive display of Chinese pagodas and a 200-foot-long dragon.
