Extreme Heat Closes 18 Cleveland Schools

Tuesday's high is expected to be 94 degrees, with a heat index of 98 degrees.

CLEVELAND — Nineteen Cleveland Metropolitan School District buildings will be closed Tuesday due to forecasts of extreme heat. There is an expected high of 94 degrees Tuesday, with a heat index value of 98 degrees.

Five CMSD schools were released early on Monday due to the heat. Wednesday's high is projected to be 90 degrees.

The mutli-day heat wave is expected to break Wednesday afternoon or evening, when thunderstorms are likely. The rain should cool things off, leading to a projected high of 73 degrees on Thursday.
