Flash Flood Watch In Effect Sunday In Cuyahoga County
Tropical Storm Gordon could hit Northeast Ohio hard on Sunday and Monday, current forecasts say.

CLEVELAND — Tropical Storm Gordon will hit Northeast Ohio on Sunday and Monday. Heavy rains are expected September 9 and 10 and the National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Cuyahoga and Summit counties.
"Moisture associated with the tropical remnant low pressure system will continue to move into the local area through Monday morning. The combination of the low pressure system, abundant moisture, and a stationary front will cause a significant amount rain to possibly fall across the area through Monday," the National Weather Service said.
Heavy rainfall could cause rivers and streams to overflow. Communities that get a lot of rain in a short amount of time could see flash flooding, the National Weather Service warned.

"The possibility for significant rainfall amounts between 3 and 5 inches with locally higher amounts are possible. This amount of rain could cause main stem rivers, streams, creeks to go out of their banks causing flooding. In some situations, there is the possibility for significant widespread flooding across the area.
Some localized areas could see flash flooding due to heavy rain on saturated soils," the National Weather Service said.
Homes along river banks or streams will want to be vigilant about monitoring water levels and take steps to prevent flooding in their homes. Residents with boats or docks should take precautious to protect their vessels because the rainfall could also have a dramatic impact on Lake Erie.

The flash flood watch will expire on Monday night, barring a chance in weather.
