Flooding Hits Roadways In Northeast Ohio

"Never drive your car through flooded roadways. The water may be deeper than it appears," the National Weather Service warned residents.

CLEVELAND, OH — Flooding remains possible throughout much of Northeast Ohio on Monday, with more rain possible throughout the day. A flood warning is in place until 6:20 p.m. for the region and a flood advisory is in place until noon on Monday.

Up to two inches of rain has fallen in Northeast Ohio, the National Weather Service said. "Residual water from rain this evening will continue to make its way into area waterways and rises on creeks, streams, and rivers are likely," the agency said.

Another half an inch of rain could fall throughout early Monday, particularly in the eastern part of the region. The rainfall has already caused problems in Northeast Ohio.

Should the water levels hit 21 feet, several streets could become inundated with water, including "Property along Canal, Frances, Murray, Rockside, and Cloverleaf Roads in the village of Valley View inundated. Water extends to Commerce Parkway, Wall Street, Exchange Road, and Cloverleaf Parkway," the National Weather Service said.

In Cleveland Heights, two roads leading into Cleveland have been closed by weather. Both North Park Boulevard and Cedar Hill are currently closed to vehicle. Drivers are being told to find an alternative route.

The flood advisory and warning are in place for the following counties: Cuyahoga, Medina, Stark, Summit, Wayne and Holmes.
