CLEVELAND, OH — Twenty-five Ohio companies have made Fortune Magazine's coveted Fortune 500 list for 2017. The companies that make up the list represent two-thirds of the United States GDP with $12 trillion in revenues.
Companies are ranked by total revenue. The largest Ohio company on the list is Dublin-based Cardinal Health, which landed at 15, with $121.5 billion in revenue in 2016, a record for the company. Grocery chain Kroger also landed in the top 20, with $115.3 billion in revenue.
Topping the list nationally is Walmart, followed by Berkshire Hathaway and Apple. Walmart is also the biggest employer on the list with 2.3 million employees while Apple is the most profitable company on the list.

While 15 companies dropped off the list, there were 20 newcomers on the list, including Elon Musk’s electric car company Tesla. Other than clearing the bar of at least $5.1 billion in annual revenue, Fortune explains how newcomers make it on the list.
The 2017 list also includes 32 female CEOs, which Fortune says it the highest number of female CEOs to ever make the list.
