Good Samaritans Stop Car Theft, Child Abduction In Cleveland

When a woman tried to steal a car parked at a convenience store, a group of people blocked the exits with their bodies.

CLEVELAND — A group of Good Samaritans stopped a car theft and the kidnapping of a 4-year-old child on Wednesday night, Cleveland Police said.

At approximately 7 p.m., a woman tried to steal a car parked outside a convenience store at E. 152nd Street and St. Clair. Inside the car was the 4-year-old.

The woman started to drive away when the owner of the car realized what was happening. She ran outside and tried to stop the car theft, but was instead dragged a short distance by her own vehicle.

Seeing this, a group of Good Samaritans gathered together and blocked the exit of the convenience store lot. The impromptu wall of people delayed the car thief long enough that officers were able to get to the scene and arrest the suspect.
