Granddaughter Accused Of Shooting Grandmother In Cleveland

Police said the granddaughter claims she accidentally shot and killed her grandmother on Sunday night.

CLEVELAND — A 64-year-old woman was shot to death inside a home on E. 119th Street, Cleveland police said. The woman's adult granddaughter has been taken into custody by police.

At 10 p.m. on Sunday, officers were called to E. 119th Street. There were reports of a dead woman in a home on the street.

When officers and EMS arrived, they found the 64-year old woman with a gunshot wound to her face. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner was called to the home and identified the woman as Sarah Craig, a Cleveland resident.

Investigators spoke to Craig's granddaughter, Antoinette Craig, 28, in the house. Antoinette said the shooting had been accidental.

Police are investigating the killing as a possible homicide. The case is still being investigated.
