Here are the top stories today in Cleveland:

  1. A haunted house actor at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds accidentally stabbed an 11-year-old Brook Park boy in the foot. The actor, a 22-year-old Middleburg Heights man, was trying to scare people walking into the haunted house. As the boy and his friend approached, the man scraped the ground with a real Bowie-style knife that he had brought from home. The haunted house had supplied the actors with fake prop knives, but the man decided not to use one. (cleveland.com)
  2. A Cleveland police officer shot at a man wielding an ax, leaving the suspect critically injured. According to Cleveland Police Patrolmen's Association union president Jeff Folmer, officers initially used a bean bag shotgun and a taser to try to stop the suspect. When those things didn't work, an officer opened fire. The incident is being investigated by the Cleveland Division of Police. (WJW FOX 8 News Cleveland)
  3. The shooting death of Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson's grandson has officially been ruled a homicide by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner. (Cleveland 19 News)
  4. The Cleveland Clinic is being inundated with people requesting COVID-19 testing; it is advising Ohio residents on how they can get tested beyond showing up at an emergency room or urgent care location. (News 5 Cleveland)
  5. At least two Ohio City businesses were hit by burglars on the same night, resulting in the loss of thousands of dollars in stolen cash and property. (Cleveland 19 News)
