Heat Advisory Issued For Northern Ohio

Heat index temperatures could hit 104 degrees on Sunday. Ohioans are being told to stay indoors and stay hydrated.

CLEVELAND — A heat advisory has been issued for much of northern Ohio on Sunday, the National Weather Service announced.

Heat index values could hit 104 degrees, the agency warned. Heat illnesses pose a threat to many Ohioans during such temperatures.

"Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances," the National Weather Service said.

Temperatures are expected to hit 95 degrees during the day. Thunderstorms could form overnight, breaking the hot spell and sending temperatures back into the 80s to start the work week.

"Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible," the National Weather Service said.
