Help Locate Suspects That Attacked Cleveland Cop

Reward money is available for tips that lead to the arrest of the two people that brutally assaulted an off-duty officer.

CLEVELAND, OH — Police are asking the public for help in locating two suspects that attacked a female Cleveland police officer on Thursday. The woman was assaulted while working a second job as security at Taco Bell at 4110 Lee Road. The Cleveland Police Department described the attack as "brutal" in a blog post.

The officer was in full uniform. The officer's gun was stolen during the assault.

Police say the officer was placing items into her car when a suspect walked up behind her and tried to steal the officer's gun. The officer turned around and started fighting back. A second suspect then walked up and punched the officer repeatedly in the face.

The suspects grabbed the gun and then fled the area.

The officer was rushed to MetroHealth Medical Center to be treated for injuries to her face.

Patch reported earlier that the suspects appeared to be two teenage boys, roughly 17- to 18-years-old.

Anyone with information about the attack is being asked to call the Fourth District Detective Bureau at 216-623-5418. Overnight information can be submitted at 216-621-1234.

If individuals want to provide anonymous information to police, they can call Crimestoppers at 216-252-7463. Reward money, up to $2,500, is available for information that leads to the identification, arrest and prosecution of the suspects.

Money is also available for information that helps police locate the missing service weapon.
