Home Invader Shot, Killed On Cleveland's East Side

Police said two people broke into a home on E. 78th street on Tuesday night. They were shot at by a resident.

CLEVELAND — A home invasion turned deadly on Cleveland's east side on Monday night. At least two people were shot, and one of them was killed, police said.

At about 8 p.m., two people burst into a home on E. 78th Street, with weapons drawn, and began firing, police said. One of the residents of the house pulled out their own gun and began firing back.

One of the home invaders was shot multiple times and killed. The second home invader ran out of the house. Police do not know if they were wounded.

The resident was also hit in the exchange, taking a bullet to the stomach, police said. She would later be rushed to MetroHealth for treatment. Her status is unknown.

There were also three children in the house at the time of the gunfire. They were unhurt.

Police have yet to identify the home invaders. Detectives are investigating the incident.
