Hundreds Arrested During Narcotics Crackdown In Ohio

Operation Blue Light was a three-day, statewide law enforcement clampdown on drug trafficking in Ohio.

Operation Blue Light, a three-day crackdown on drug trafficking in Ohio, resulted in hundreds of arrests, the Ohio Department of Public Safety announced on Wednesday. Law enforcement used traffic stops in areas with a history of drug trafficking to weed out narcotics.

”This intensive, three-day initiative was successful thanks to the dedication of all the law enforcement officers who participated in the operation and who’ve committed themselves to make Ohio a safer place every day,” said Governor Mike DeWine. “Any time that we can take illegal drugs out of the hands of those driving on our roadways, we are protecting the law-abiding drivers and passengers who share the same streets.”

There were nearly 260 criminal arrests throughout Operation Blue Light, the Ohio Department of Public Safety said. Of the 259 criminal arrests, 129 are suspected felony cases, the Ohio Department of Public Safety added. Those arrests have spawned 307 drug cases. Law enforcement also seized 68 firearms and more than $72,000 over those three days.
