Officially Official: Johnny Manziel Cut by the Cleveland Browns
The quarterback who entered the NFL with a ton of hype has been cut after two seasons.

CLEVELAND, OH — It's official, finally: The Johnny Manziel era in Cleveland has come to an end.
The Cleveland Browns announced that the team has cut the quarterback after a rocky two-year tenure in which he played in 14 games — most of them miserably. The Browns first had the option to cut the 2014 first-round draft pick since Wednesday, but didn't. Just two days later there's no more speculating, Manziel is out.
The news shouldn't come as a surprise. The team all but guaranteed Manziel's departure before the 2016-2017 season after his second run-in with the law for domestic violence.

On February 2, Sashi Brown, vice president of football operations, released a statement regarding Manziel's future in Cleveland.
"We've been clear about expectations for our players on and off the field. Johnny's continual involvement in incidents that run counter to those expectations undermines the hard work of his teammates and the reputation of our organization. His status with our team will be addressed when permitted by league rules. We will have no further comment at this time."

The Browns won't be entirely rid of Manziel though, they still owe him some money. Manziel is still guaranteed his 2016 and 2017 salaries of $1,169,872 and $1,004,125, reported cleveland.com.
As for Manziel? He released this statement Friday afternoon.
"I'd like to thank the Browns for the opportunity they gave me - nearly two years ago, we all hoped that we were building what could be a championship team for Cleveland. I will always remember the support I received from the organization, my teammates and especially the fans."
For a guy who probably has a hard time remembering what he did last night, it's a thoughtful message.
Only time will tell what's next for the 23-year-old quarterback who will hit the market as a free agent. But teams may show limited interested in the former Texas A&M standout and Heisman Trophy Winner, not because of his play on the field, but his behavior off the field. Manziel has been known party harder than he practices and his latest run-in with the law could land him in serious trouble.
In Manziel's two years in Cleveland he started eight games. The quarterback completed passed for 1,675 yards with seven touchdowns and seven interceptions. He also tacked on 259 rushing yards. In 2016 alone he passed for 1,500 yards, seven touchdowns and five interceptions.
With Manziel gone, Cleveland has quarterbacks Josh McCown, Austin Davis and Connor Shaw left on the roster.
