Kent State University Stopping In-Person Classes
Face-to-face classes will be suspended through at least April 12.
KENT, OH — Kent State University will stop face-to-face classes on Tuesday afternoon. In-person classes will remain suspended until at least April 12.
Kent State President Todd Diacon announced the policy changes after Gov. Mike DeWine held a press conference urging universities to stop face-to-face classes. Kent State will move to remote instruction starting March 16.
Between March 16 and March 20, classes will be held via remote instruction. Then the university's scheduled spring break will happen as scheduled, from March 23 to March 29. Remote instruction will resume from March 30 to April 10. Face-to-face classes will start again on April 13.

Events scheduled between March 10 and April 12 are cancelled. No additional events will be scheduled for this semester.
"Kent Campus students are strongly encouraged to return to their homes during this modified spring schedule, but residence halls will remain open with reduced dining options. While completing classes remotely, students are encouraged to practice appropriate social distancing and enhanced preventative public health and hygiene measures," Diacon said.

Students who remain on campus must remain in their residence halls. The university's dining services will continue to serve students.
Clinical rotations for the College of Podiatric Medicine and the College of Nursing will continue. Other university functions will also continue unabated. Faculty can continue to use their offices and all campus services will continue.
"We will continue to monitor the outbreak and will align our recommendations with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization and other city, state and federal agencies," Diacon said.
