Lake Effect Snow To Fall Thursday In Northeast Ohio

The National Weather Service says 3 inches of snow could fall on Thursday, primarily in the snowbelt.

CLEVELAND — Lake effect snow will cover part of Northeast Ohio on Wednesday night and Thursday morning, the National Weather Service warned. Current forecasts suggest the hardest hit regions will get 3 inches of snow between Wednesday night and Thursday evening.

"Winter is back! Lake effect snow will develop in the snowbelt late tonight through Thursday evening and a Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for that time frame," the National Weather Service in Cleveland announced on Twitter. "Highest snowfall totals will occur across Northwest PA, where 3 to locally 6 inches of snow are expected."

Ohio cities like Chardon, Ashtabula, Orwell and Andover will likely be hardest hit, with 3 inches or more expected to fall on Thursday.

Snow is expected to fall Friday night into Saturday morning. Additional snowfall could occur throughout the weekend, the National Weather Service warned.

After an unexpectedly warm start to winter, Northeast Ohioans will be saddened to learn winter is not gone forever. Along with the snowfall, forecasts are calling for a dip in temperatures, with highs in the low 30s expected through Sunday.
