LeBron James Says No One Wants Invite To Trump White House

The Cleveland Cavaliers star has not been shy about voicing his opinion on President Donald Trump.

CLEVELAND, OH — LeBron James is again drawing headline ink for publicly criticizing President Donald Trump. The star forward was asked about the Philadelphia Eagles both refusing a visit to the White House and then being uninvited, publicly, by Trump. James responded, "I know that no matter who wins this series, no one wants the invite anyways."

James' Cavaliers are currently playing the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals. While his team is currently down 0-2, James has pulled out miraculous wins in the past, including in 2016 when his Cleveland squad became the last NBA champions to visit the White House.

The next year, Donald Trump would win the presidency and the Warriors would beat the Cavaliers in a rematch. The Warriors refused to attend the White House for the typical post-championship photo-op with the president.

The precedent continued this week several Eagles players refused to attend the White House, prompting Trump to take to Twitter and uninvite them. James called the action "typical" of the president in a press conference.

He also said he doesn't see anything changing. "As long as he's in office, the communication, and things like that, is going to continue to happen. There's a lot of things that we believe in — as Americans — that we don't feel that he's for."

James has frequently been an outspoken critic of Trump and his policies, famously calling him a "bum" on Twitter. That infamous retort was prompted by Trump blasting one of James' current rivals.

"Going to the White House is considered a great honor for a championship team. Stephen Curry is hesitating, therefore invitation is withdrawn!" Trump said in his tweet.

Curry appreciated the King's defense (for once) and has followed James' lead. After LeBron was asked for his thoughts on the Eagles refusing to visit the White House, Curry was asked the same question. He noted that he felt similarly to James.
