As the new mayoral and council administration takes office in Cleveland, a number of LGBTQ+ leaders will find themselves not only sitting at the table, but also holding positions of great influence. Phyllis Harris, executive director of the LGBT Community Center of Greater Cleveland, was named co-chair of Mayor-Elect Bibb's transition team. Lawyer and community advocate Rebecca Maurer is the first out LGBTQ+ woman elected to the council in the city's history. And not only did Ward 3's Kerry McCormack win his reelection, but he is also assuming the role of majority leader of the legislative body, the first out LGBTQ+ individual known to hold that title. For Saturday, the forecast calls for a 100 percent chance of precipitation with a high near 44 degrees; showers are possible mainly before 2 p.m. Later that day, there is a chance of rain and snow showers in the area between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m.; the forecast that night calls for cloudy skies with a low around 31 degrees.   3. The Cleveland Division of Police announced that the cause of death for a 78-year-old woman was ruled a homicide due to medical neglect. Officers responded to perform a wellness check at an address on Melville Road on the evening of Apr. 4; they found Pearl Norris in need of medical care and suffering from various injuries.
