Luke Perry, Actor And Ohio Native, Dead At 52

Best known as a heart throb from "Beverly Hills 90210," Perry was also a Mansfield native.

SHERMAN OAKS, CA — On Monday, four days after suffering a massive stroke, actor and Ohio native Luke Perry passed away. He was 52.

Last Wednesday, Perry was rushed to a hospital after he suffered a stroke. He was then sedated by doctors to give his brain its best chance at recovery. Sadly, the 52-year-old's condition continued to deteriorate.

Perry was surrounded by his friends and family on Monday, according to reports. His two children, fiancee, and ex-wife were all present at St. Joseph's Hospital in Burbank, California, according to TMZ.

Perry was a native Ohioan, born in Mansfield and raised in Fredericktown. Shortly after graduating from Fredericktown High School he went west, and began acting professionally.

He rose to fame in the 1990s when he landed a role as Dylan McKay on the hit TV show "Beverly Hills 90210."

The 52-year-old was in the midst of a career resurgence, of late. He had a central role on the CW's "Riverdale" (playing Archie's father) and will also appear in the upcoming Quentin Tarantino film "Once Upon a Time In Hollywood."

Publicist Arnold Robinson, who worked with Perry, spoke on behalf of the mourning family.

"The family appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world, and respectfully request privacy in this time of great mourning," he said. "No further details will be released at this time."
