Man Passed Out At Taco Bell In Westlake: Police

Police said callers told them a driver appeared to be passed out while parked in the drive-thru lane of Taco Bell on Columbia Road.

WESTLAKE, OH — A driver passed out in the drive-thru lane of Taco Bell in Westlake at 3 a.m., police said.

Callers told officers there was a suspicious Honda at the Taco Bell on Columbia Road on July 14. When officers arrived, concerned residents flagged police down and pointed out where the Honda was.

The driver had apparently woken up, gotten his food, and had started to leave the restaurant. Police stopped him before he got on the road.

Police said the driver looked intoxicated and wasn't wearing a seat belt. The driver, a 27-year-old from North Olmsted, said he didn't wear his seat belt because it wasn't comfortable.

The man was put through a series of field sobriety tests and then taken into custody on suspicion of operating a vehicle impaired. The man refused to take a breath test, so his license was automatically suspended.

The man will be tried at Rocky River Municipal Court.
